The Program
In this hybrid panel event, practitioners will discuss recent developments and make predictions on future trends regarding sovereign issues in international arbitration.  By focusing on the United States, Canada, Chile, and Peru – as jurisdictions with recent high-profile events and cases, which are likely to continue to be a point-of-interest for the arbitration community in the coming months – this panel will investigate some of the most salient issues involving sovereigns and state-owned entities in the arbitration proceeding and post-arbitration award enforcement stages.  Among the hot-topic issues to be discussed include the U.S. Supreme Court’s recent decision regarding Section 1782 discovery, Chile’s upcoming Constitutional Convention, and political tumult in Peru.

While panelists will appear in-person and joined by delegates at the NYIAC in residence at JAMS space, all remarks will be broadcast by Zoom in order to allow participation from delegates around the world.
