The Hong Kong International Arbitration Center (HKIAC) and the Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) School of International Arbitration Centre of Commercial Law Studies Present 40th Anniversary Celebratory Seminar Series: Insolvency, Arbitration Agreements, and Ongoing Arbitration (Session Three)

The School of International Arbitration, Centre of Commercial Law Studies at Queen Mary University of London (the SIA) and the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC) were founded in London and Hong Kong respectively in 1985.

In celebration of our institutions’ 40th anniversaries, we have jointly introduced a seminar series featuring preeminent speakers to discuss some of the most fascinating topics in international arbitration through the lens of comparative law.

The third session of the series will be chaired by Professor Dr. Maxi Scherer, featuring Eva Sit SC and Richard Bamforth. They will explore the Asian and European perspectives on “Insolvency, Arbitration Agreements and Ongoing Arbitrations“.

The session will examine the legal complexity of insolvency proceedings when they intersect with the enforceability of arbitration agreements, as well as the implications on ongoing arbitral proceedings in the context of cross-border insolvency regimes.
