This webinar will discuss the crucial importance of the rule of law in the current geopolitical and commercial environment. It will draw on the years of experience of Meg Kinnear and Lucinda Low in managing global risks and responding to global disputes. The conversation will highlight how today’s challenges measure up to the challenges of the past. The discussion will highlight that these challenges are not different due to what is at stake. Rather, what is different today is that some key decisionmakers have rejected the rule of law as a viable approach to overcoming the challenges they face even as others hope to gain the benefits and protection of a rules-based order. The conversation will underline why the rule of law remains critical. It will address why rule of law must mean more than narrow formalism. Only a thick, justice-based understanding of the rule of law is fit to purpose to solve today’s existential crises facing world society.
